This is the Arctic Grayling Stud Earring in Sterling Silver. The photo is of the highlighted version. It is available in the Original version and also a fully enamel painted version.
Once native to northern Michigan (near me), but has now gone extinct due to lumbering in the last century. They are still found in a few places within the United States. There are small populations of it out west and you can find it in pretty good abundance in Alaska.
The unusual shaped, colorful dorsal fin is what is the unique feature of this species
This is the same casting I use for the Jumping Fish pendants and also as a lapel. It would make a nice set.
Another great option is the hand enamel painted version. I use a very unique painting process and do a realistic rendition. It’s like enamel but actually tougher and its not baked. It also has a clear coat that cures and seals it in. Please allow an extra 5-7 days to paint and curing time.
